About the VHLN Board

For many years, there was a Victoria Home Learners Network.  In May 2010, the Victoria Home Learners' Network Society was incorporated.  Many of the volunteers chose to be part of the Interim Board for the VHLN.

Here is a list of the interim board members and their titles:

President - Caelen Bright
Vice President - Jacqui Paul
Treasurer - Szara Turpel
Secretary - Caelen Bright
Director - Christine Nicholls
Director - Layla Didmon

Caelen has been the President and Secretary of the Board, and brings a wealth of leadership and organizational skills after serving on the Waldorf Society board for many years. She was in charge of the Silent Auction at the Family Fun Carnival Fundraiser for Tara Allman's family. Caelen lives in Fairfield and has been homeschooling for 10 years.

Jacqui has been in the Vice President position of the Board. She has been hosting the delightful May Day event since 2006, was on the VHLN Working Group, hosts the SOS night at Knotty By Nature Fibre Arts once a month, and maintains the member database. She lives in Saanich and has been homeschooling her children for 14 years.

Szara has been handling all Treasurer and insurance duties, along with being a fabulous homeschool mom to her beautiful children and new baby! She lives in Esquimalt and has been homeschooling for 11 years.

Christine has been a Director, organising the very fun NBTS Picnic every fall and is the moderator for our VHLN Hotline. Over the last 10 years, she has been a volunteer with the VHLN Newsletter Committee, the VHLN WorkingGroup, and is part of the interim Board for the new Victoria Home Learners' Network Society. She lives in Colwood and has been homeschooling for 15 years.

Layla has been a Director in charge of the VHLN Member Directory, our public website, and has created wonderful graphics for all VHLN needs. She lives in Sooke has been homeschooling with her son for the past 11 years.
